Instead of putting your faith in a collective that gets to decide what is best for you, does it not make sense to put your faith and your efforts behind the only person you can ever know for sure to be looking out for you- yourself?
Individual talent and ability are your best tools for advancing yourself in a Capitalist society. A virtuous person knows this, understands this, accepts this and takes advantage of this. Liberals want to take the individual, and consequently the effort, out of the equation. They want to take away the need for virtuous people. But wouldn't a virtuous people know this and stand against such policies? Yes. But then, we don't teach virtue in our schools do we?
