The Individual

There are a lot of things, and I do mean a LOT, that I simply do not understand about the Democratic Party and the left of America, but by far the thing that most concerns me is their blatant ignorance of the constitution, the fundamentals of our nation and the values of our founding fathers. When our nation began, the framers of the constitution had certain beliefs and values in mind that they wanted to see implemented in our society. They constructed the constitution to protect the things they felt needed protection, and to implement the things they felt important and vital to the success of our free democratic state. What bothers me is that so many of the platform ideas of the Democratic Party are directly contrary to the fundamentals of the United States. Universal health care, abortion, homosexual rights, redistribution of wealth, high taxes for the rich, and especially these damn stimulus packages all go against the fundamental belief in the strength of the individual, and all any American has to do is open a book and read and they will find the evidence that proves how distinctly un-American the Democratic Party truly is. Open a book? Therein lays the biggest problem with our country as it pertains to politics. The American people are not individually responsible enough to even keep themselves up to date and aware of what is going on around them. In short, we just don't care enough to take the time to educate ourselves about the world around us. We may go to college and even grad school, but we all know that is simply to get a good job and make good money. We rely on professors to tell us what we need to know to succeed, and we do little to none in the way of finding things out on our own. Too many Americans listen to anything politicians and the media tell them, and too few educate themselves on the way things really are.

One of the issues I am most concerned about today is the phasing out of individual responsibility. The Libs are trying to convince us that it is the government's job to fix all of our problems, I mean Obama keeps rambling on about "Only Government" this and "Only Government" that. If you do a little research and read the constitution, the federalist papers, and other documents written by the founders, you will see that our government was NEVER meant to be the extremely powerful entity that it is today. The government was constructed to be a provider of tools. What I mean by that is the government should not be giving out money to those in bad situations, because it does no good. How many people have won the lottery and blown it all? How many people are worse off after welfare than they were before? How many people sit on their butts and collect unemployment checks without even attempting to find a job? Far too many my friends. Giving people money does nothing for fixing problems, because people do not appreciate anything as much as that which they earn themselves. That includes me. I am much more likely to throw away money from a stimulus or a lottery than I am money that I work my butt off to make. Individual responsibility is being eradicated by the socialist government that we have put in place, and I use the term "we" loosely because I sure as hell didn't vote for these idiots, and most of you didn't either. They are supposed to be providing us with the tools for success, not giving us the benefits of a success that we have neither experienced nor earned. Money, homes, cars, health care, etc. are benefits of success. We are supposed to be working hard to achieve the things we want. Only through hard work can success and its benefits truly be appreciated.

Most Americans would look at a Paris Hilton or other "spoiled rich kids" that have lucked into the benefits of success that can be, but were not, achieved by hard work and be pissed off, thinking that it is unfair that while we work hard for what we have, others have it handed to them. My father had a saying that he drilled into my head when I was growing up, "Life's not fair, get used to it." I can't tell you how angry that line made me as a child. However, as an adult I have come to understand the truth and the message behind that statement he so firmly etched into my brain. It's not that we are supposed to accept that other people are better off for no reason. It's not that some things simply are not achievable. And it's not that we should stop trying to achieve our goals. The point of that phrase is that life is fundamentally unfair, but THAT IS NO EXCUSE! Just because you have to work for some things and others don't, that is no excuse not to give everything you have in order to get those things for yourself. If your pour your heart and soul and body into getting that family, that job or that car or that home or that vacation or that retirement fund, you will not only appreciate it much more than if it had been handed to you, but you will treat it with respect and you will have a sense of accomplishment and self-worth unparalleled by any feeling of someone who is handed the same thing. You will be able to say maybe it wasn't fair that I had to put so much effort into what I have, but I damn sure earned it. Life is not fair my friends, but that is no reason to quit. Just because life is unfair, that does not mean it is unjust. What can be argued as unjust can be corrected through hard work, for when we work to achieve what we want we will feel justified and satisfied, while those who were handed what they have will forever be subject to a sense of lacking and emptiness.

The bottom line here is that this nation was never intended to be dependent on the government. That notion, and the notion that the President has the power to fix everything, started with FDR and the new deal. The programs implemented by the FDR administration did no more to pull us out of the depression than anything the Hoover administration did. Our participation in WWII brought us out. Any impartial economist will tell you that. Even so, since FDR we have become more and more dependent on the government and specifically the president, to hand us money, food, homes and so forth. The government should not be giving us any of this stuff. It's simply not their job. The government exists to provide us with freedom, and to ensure that we have the tools at our disposal necessary to achieve success. We need freedom, equality, and opportunity. Freedom to pursue our own individual happiness within the realm of our nation and its laws, equality for all people within that real to pursue such happiness, and opportunities to seek such happiness and acquire skills to help us in that search. Giving out money, homes, etc. is essentially skipping the part where we develop our individual responsibility and self-worth. Politicians don't want to deal with the fact that life isn't fair and is not meant to be, because that idea is not attractive and does not elicit many votes from average citizens (mainly because the average citizen wrongly believes life is supposed to be fair). So, they find attractive ways to distract us from unfairness, like welfare, universal health care, and pork-filled "stimulus" packages. Over time this has lead to far too many Americans subscribing to the belief that the government can and should fix our problems. It started with FDR, and today it is infesting our society exponentially through Obama and his followers.

I submit to you again my friends, we must do something to stop this blatant destruction of the fundamentals of our country. There are more of us than the Libs care to imagine, and if we simply ban together and resist, they cannot stop us. History tells us a specific story of what it means to be an American, and Obama and his minions are trying to rewrite that history. We cannot let that happen. We must fight it. We must fight it, or lose what little we have left
