More bull from BO, but some light from the press

1. Obama is "angry" about the AIG bonus situation, but insists it happened in part because of the "culture" of recent years. In other words, Obama and his teleprompter have found yet another way to blame his mistakes on the Bush administration. Geitner flubs but somehow the bonuses are Bush's fault. And of course, Barack is still beating the fact that he "inherited this deficit" to death. So much for the new administration exercising accountability.

2. Ed Henry of CNN gets a thumbs up from this blogger for daring to go against the Liberal grain by asking Obama why he and Geitner took so long to voice their "anger" over the AIG bonuses. Obama danced around the question by focusing on Henry's second question (off the top of my head I think it was about the economy), but Henry re-submitted his question. Good for Ed for daring to ask more than softball question.

3. Brings me to BO's response to that very question: "I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak." Really? Is that so? That must be why he gave the wrong speech on St Patrick's Day. Must also be why he called Nicolas Sarkozy "Jacques Chirac.” And that must be why he keeps referring to our economy as "the worst economic crisis since the great depression," even though the numbers tell the less naive of us that the country was in much worse shape when Carter left office. That is until Reagan fixed it.

4. The president seems to think that "the dollar is extraordinarily strong right now.” WHAT?! What planet is he living on? The FED just printed a trillion dollars because of Barack's budget, and somehow the dollar is strong? Printing money for the sake of it does nothing but decrease the value of the dollar and further cripple our economy. So calling the dollar strong must have been one of those things Obama says after making sure he "knows what he's talking about."

5. While attempting to ensure us that the change in tax deductable percentages on charitable donations will not deter giving, Obama claimed it will simply make it so that a rich person can give a hundred dollars and still claim 28% of it as a deduction and a bus driver making only 40 or 50 grand a year can give what they can and claim a little more as a deductable, effectively "evening things out." I'll let him slide on changing the percentages, but I'd just like to poke at him once more-what bus driver do you know that's making 40 or 50 grand? Another case of being informed before opening his mouth I suppose.

6. Near the end of the press conference, a correspondent for the Washington Times asked Bo whether he had tangled with the morality of signing off on embryonic stem cell research, even adding that the science shows great promise for adult stem cells but very little in the way of embryonic stem cells. Obama of course claimed to have had a hard time coming to the decision and insisted that if the science points away from embryos then we will steer away from that option. So the correspondent (I apologize for failing to remember his name) posed the question, "Is a scientific consensus enough to tell us what we can and can't do?" Obama said no, but has repeatedly stated that he will follow science. So is it his guide or isn't it? Make up your mind Barack.

7. Finally, I want to touch on an ongoing theme of this administration that was reflected yet again tonight. That is the theme of "this is too hard for me to fix in one term." BO remarked that we are experiencing problems that "can’t be fixed this year or next year or 3 years from now." The Obama administration has since day 1 been setting the stage for a second term. That's why as soon as he gave his speech on election night he was already beginning to lessen expectations by telling the American people that things will take time. During the campaign he had built up such hype that if he wanted any shot at a second term he would have to start telling people that "fixing" things will be slow and will likely take an entire term, if not more. To me it seems he is more concerned with reelection than securing the economy. Think of how it would look if the Bush, who he blames for everything, made it through 8 years and he, the Liberal messiah, only achieved one term due to failing to live up the enormous expectations he and his followers built up over the last two years. It would cast a bad light on his historic presidency and spell trouble for future Democrats making the same mistake. I'm convinced that at this point the Obama camp is chiefly concerned with making a memorable impression on the history books rather than doing what is actually best for America and her people. Saddens me, but it's the hard reality of our government. But we'll put a stop to such things. All in due time

Stay Conservative, and keep looking Forward
