We Have to do this Ourselves

Have you ever heard someone use the phrase, “oh it’s not that bad”? You’ve probably heard it a time or two at the very least, and once a day if you’re more on the average side. On the surface, it’s just an everyday innocent saying that most Americans use when they think someone is making circumstances out to be worse than they really are. But in the wrong context, this simple saying is the difference between “change” and “fundamental transformation.” You see, true, meaningful, American change has always come about through the efforts of the People. We have always been a People who know what they want, and how things should be, and how to make things right. The Revolution, the Civil war, Suffrage for women and African Americans, the civil rights movement. Every time the people have sought to make a change, it’s been because we have seen wrong in our society and decided it was our duty to fix it. When the people step up, we succeed in creating true change.

Now, when politicians decide FOR us that we somehow need “change,” the result is always a disaster. Social Security (wait for the explanation before you get pissy), Federal income tax (among other oppressive taxes such as personal property taxes and death taxes), Affirmative action (don’t even get me started), the New Deal, Obamacare, Cap and trade, and anything that Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy carter ever did (educated progressive and stupid southern Liberal, both awful American leaders). Obviously these are only a few examples, but they’re all examples that I believe have and/or will hurt America rather than help it. What’s more, I truly believe that these, and other mistakes in our history, could have been hindered from being implemented had fewer people been so quick to say “it’s not that bad.”

“The New Deal is full of socialist programs that undermine the founding principles of the Constitution!”

“Oh, it’s not that bad.”

“Affirmative action will keep hard working people from getting jobs because they aren’t the right race or gender! It’s government mandated, deliberately discriminatory policy!”

“Oh, it’s not that bad.”

“Social Security makes sense on paper but if people start relying on it as their retirement fund, it will become unsustainable! We’re teaching people that they don’t have to be responsible for their own retirement money!”

“Oh, it’s not that bad.”

“Cap and Trade is a scam to make people in high places richer and make tree huggers sleep better at night! We’ll be buying and selling air! Our energy prices will skyrocket, while Al Gore rakes in cash and KEEPS RIDING IN HIS PLANE!”

“Oh, it’s not that bad.” And my personal favorite,

“This healthcare plan will force us to get the insurance THEY want us to get, and fine us if we don’t! It’s going to add over a trillion dollars to our debt and no one knows how to pay for it! They are trying to socialize our healthcare system! They will force this down our throats whether we want it or not, and it’s the beginning of a long line of uber-liberal policies that will change America as we know it unless we do something now!”

Say it with me everybody, “Oh, it’s not that bad.”

We’re a people who know what they want, but we have an awful habit of waiting until it is too late to figure out that what the morons in Washington are saying we need is not what we actually need. Then we get lazy, and just let it happen. I’m telling you now, if we don’t act now, and put all of our efforts into getting this Healthcare Obamanation repealed, we will eventually forget about it and it will begin to destroy our nation. Costs will be ridiculous, it will take weeks to get basic care, age caps will make the elderly SOL for the treatment they need, Our debt will swell, the dollar will shrink, and America will be “fundamentally transformed.” We can’t wait to “find out” what will happen. We know what will happen folks. We know that this time, like so many others, it IS that bad! We can fix it. We have the power. Only WE can make the true change our country needs. We have to. If we don’t do it, who will?

Stay Conservative, and keep looking Forward
